14 of our P.5 students participated in the New Zealand Study Tour in June, 2025 . The students had an enriching experience living with their homestay families and bonding with their Kiwi buddies from TAKP School. They attended digital learning and writing lessons at school, where they gained valuable knowledge while having lots of fun. A highlight of their time was participating in the Māori New Year celebrations, where they enjoyed a traditional hāngi feast and watched a kapa haka performance.
Beyond learning, the second half of their journey was equally exciting! The students visited a kiwifruit orchard to learn about planting and advertising kiwifruit. At McLarens Falls Park, they were amazed by the glowworms lighting up the forest at night.
Another memorable stop was the Agrodome, where students watched an entertaining live sheep show, took part in various farming activities, and even fed some of the sheep and alpacas. Additionally, they enjoyed an adventurous gondola ride up Mt Ngongotaha and experienced the thrill of luging down the mountain. At the Kiwi Bird Hatchery Centre, the students observed the adorable Kiwi birds and learnt about ongoing efforts to protect this endangered species.
In conclusion, the students gained a deeper understanding of New Zealand's culture, natural environment, and people. This tour also helped improve their English proficiency and fostered greater independence.
