As the saying goes, “Travelling brings about far greater benefit than mere book learning.” Joining a study tour is a great way to enrich students’ knowledge and broaden their horizon beyond textbooks and lessons. This 12-day joint schools study tour to New Zealand was a fabulous and fruitful experience for our P.5 students this summer.
Eight students were assigned to study with their buddies in St Dominic’s Girl School and Liston College and they spent their enjoyable lesson time, lunch time and play time at school. Sharing with buddies did provoke their interactions and learning across boundaries. Moreover, students also learnt the traditional culture, the ‘Māori’ of New Zealand, the stunning landscape and the outdoor activities of Auckland in daily lessons. After school, they lived in host families, chatted with host parents and engaged in the new living culture.
During the tour, students were brought to some gorgeous scenic spots. Mt Eden was an amazing place to enjoy views into the crater and across the city, harbour and Hauraki Gulf. They also visited Sheepworld Farm Park and Honey Centre to experience the practical hands-on New Zealand Farming experience. After that, they had a picnic at the beautiful riverside of Warkworth. On the last day in Auckland, they went to Auckland Zoo, discovered kiwi birds in the dark and visited the Auckland War Memorial Museum. It was an unforgettable and eye-opening tour. Our students had unforgettable memories in the tour.
Since the study tour provides English learning, culture exploring and self-development benefits to students, parents will love to see their children coming back with a new perspective on themselves and the world.
